Datavant Joins the Agentic AI Foundation to Advocate for Open Standards in Healthcare

Datavant brings deep healthcare expertise and a unique focus on health data interoperability, security and privacy to AAIF, connecting the agentic AI ecosystem to one of the most data-sensitive industries in the world.

NEW YORK – June 25, 2026Datavant, the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare, today announced it has joined the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), the neutral home where the open standard agentic AI stack is being built.

Datavant joins a distinguished group of AAIF members, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Anthropic, Block, Bloomberg, Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. Together, these organizations are helping build the open infrastructure, protocols, and governance models that will enable agentic systems to securely interact with data, tools, applications, and one another.

Datavant will help ensure healthcare’s unique requirements – including interoperability, privacy, compliance, governance, and trusted data access – are represented as standards for agentic systems as they continue to evolve.

“Healthcare is among the most complex and highly regulated data ecosystems in the world,” said Josh Builder, Chief Technology Officer of Datavant. “As standards for agentic systems emerge, it’s critical that the healthcare industry has a voice in shaping them from the beginning. Joining the Agentic AI Foundation gives us the opportunity to bring our experience in interoperability, privacy, and trusted data exchange to that conversation.”

The AAIF is designed to provide neutral stewardship for open, interoperable infrastructure as agentic AI systems move from experimentation into real-world production. As these technologies become increasingly capable of coordinating workflows, accessing information, and operating across organizational boundaries, interoperability will become one of the defining challenges of the next decade.

Datavant brings a unique perspective to the Foundation. Datavant’s core expertise lies in securely connecting healthcare data across providers, payers, life sciences organizations, government agencies, and researchers. The company has spent years helping organizations solve many of the same challenges that agentic systems will increasingly face at scale, including identity, interoperability, governance, privacy, security, auditability, and trust.

As healthcare organizations increasingly explore agent-based workflows, success will depend not only on advances in technology, but also on the ability to securely connect those technologies to high-quality, real-world healthcare data. Trusted frameworks for responsible data access, compliance, transparency, and patient privacy will be essential to realizing the full potential of these emerging systems.

“Every company today can say they use AI,” Builder added. “What matters is helping shape how these systems operate responsibly in the real world. By working alongside organizations like Anthropic, AWS, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and others, we have an opportunity to contribute the healthcare industry’s perspective to the development of open standards that will guide the future of these technologies.”

Datavant’s participation in AAIF reinforces the company’s commitment to advancing open, interoperable ecosystems that enable secure data exchange and collaboration across healthcare. It also reflects Datavant’s belief that the future of agentic systems should not be defined by a single vendor, but by organizations with deep expertise across the industries where these technologies will ultimately be deployed.

By joining the AAIF, Datavant is helping ensure that the next generation of agentic systems is built on a foundation of openness, interoperability, trust, and collaboration – while giving healthcare a seat at the table in shaping what comes next.
