NEW YORK - July 30, 2025 - Datavant, a leading health data platform company, and Veritas Data Research, the leading provider of U.S. mortality data, today announced an expanded partnership to accelerate access to high-fidelity mortality data for healthcare research. The collaboration gives life sciences organizations a streamlined path to incorporate mortality insights into a broad range of research and evidence-generation efforts, including clinical trials, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), long-term safety surveillance, patient retention modeling, and regulatory strategy.
Veritas offers the most comprehensive mortality dataset available in the U.S., curated from diverse online and offline sources and validated against public records. Through this collaboration, life sciences customers can now link Veritas’s mortality signals to their existing clinical and real-world datasets using Datavant’s privacy-preserving linkage capabilities. Together, Datavant and Veritas are creating the most accessible point of access for clinical cause-of-death data with research-ready attributes. These mortality endpoints serve as high-value indicators of clinical outcomes, giving researchers a uniquely comprehensive and trusted source for these critical inputs.
This partnership supports the generation of fit-for-purpose, tokenized datasets to support survival analysis, HEOR, label expansion strategies, and safety monitoring, while also meeting evolving regulatory expectations for long-term outcomes tracking in decentralized and post-marketing studies. Veritas has also registered its mortality dataset on Datavant Connect, powered by AWS Clean Rooms, enabling rapid discovery, access, and integration of its data by researchers.
“Veritas has built a mortality dataset that delivers critical insights to researchers in terms of completeness, timeliness, and real-world usability,” said Arnaub Chatterjee, President and GM of Life Sciences at Datavant. “By scaling access to their dataset across our 300+ real-world data partners, we’re enabling researchers to access mortality signals earlier and in a more integrated format than ever before.”
Although mortality is one of the most critical endpoints in clinical research, organizations often struggle to capture it efficiently and cost-effectively, as it is often insufficiently captured in medical claims or EHR data they already possess. Adding Veritas’s Fact of Death and Cause of Death files helps life sciences organizations identify survival events faster and with greater accuracy, enabling more proactive evidence planning and outcome measurement across a range of therapeutic areas.
“Datavant continues to bolster the broader health data ecosystem, not only by expanding access to high-value datasets like mortality data, but by building the secure infrastructure that allows every player, from data providers to life sciences researchers, to work together seamlessly,” said Jason LaBonte, CEO of Veritas. “This extension of our multi-year relationship means life sciences teams can tap into mortality data earlier and at scale, through the secure, privacy-preserving infrastructure that Datavant provides.”
