Privacy Hub: Technology-Enabled Expert Determination and HIPAA Compliance

As more patient data comes online each year, there is a need to ensure these new datasets are assessed for disclosure risk and adequately de-identified to protect patient privacy — especially as they are linked together. Meeting HIPAA compliance requirements requires a process of disclosure risk and de-identification of datasets to reduce risk of patient re-identification and maximize privacy protections. However, many challenges remain in HIPAA compliance processes and in finding ways that both preserve analytically useful information and offer robust protections for patient privacy.
